CLYDE CLAPP

Ballot designation
Retired Contractor
Candidate statement

Occupation: Former Calaveras Supervisor, Retired General Contractor / Builder & Property Owner

I am Clyde Clapp — a longtime District 5 neighbor and proven leader.

As your former Supervisor (2016–2018), I stopped a polluting asphalt plant threatening 5,000+ homes, advanced road plans, expedited the Valley Springs Medical Center, secured fire funding, and delivered grants while leaving a strong General Fund surplus.

My Five-Point Plan for District 5 Restore fiscal responsibility: Use Proposition 218 to stop the next water rate hike and eliminate waste. Fix roads and infrastructure with practical solutions and grants.

Defend property values by opposing harmful developments.

Expand healthcare access and public safety resources.

Deliver responsive, neighbor-focused constituent service with regular office hours.

With 40+ years as a general contractor and property owner, I understand land use and county government from hands-on experience.

I bring elected leadership on roads, planning, rates, and protecting homeowners.

District 5 needs a Supervisor who has already delivered results and will hit the ground running. I kept my promises before and will fight for affordability, safety, and common sense again.

I respectfully ask for your vote.

BRUCE GIUDICI

Ballot designation
Non-profit Fiscal Officer
Candidate statement

Age: 68

Occupation: Fiscal Officer

My wife and I have lived in Valley Springs since 1990 and raised our family here. Our two daughters attended local schools. A native Northern Californian, I attended our public schools and earned an MS in Agricultural Economics from UC Davis.

I’m running for District 5 Supervisor to ensure your hard-earned tax dollars are used efficiently to deliver the services you need and expect – Public safety, wildfire preparedness, and repairing our roads are some of my top priorities.

For 28 years, I’ve been a chief financial officer responsible for substantial budgets, some in the tens of millions of dollars – all with clean audits. I have a solid history of volunteer community service work ranging from coaching kids sports to serving on the boards of local non-profits.

As a fiscal conservative with a background in overseeing government funds, I will work as hard managing your tax dollars as you did earning them.

You deserve a balanced budget that cuts waste, putting the people first.

I will give you competent common-sense leadership with local roots, budget experience and a commitment to public service.

I respectfully ask for your vote.
