FRED GEORGE HAUBENSAK
- Ballot designation
- Retired Engineer
Candidate statement
Age: 61
Occupation: Retired Engineer
As a retired engineer with a PhD and a career in high tech, I bring technical rigor and deep community roots to the Bret Harte Union High School District Board of Trustees.
Artificial intelligence will reshape nearly every profession our students enter. My career gives me a clear-eyed view of which skills survive automation: creativity, critical thinking, leadership, and emotional intelligence will matter more than any technical skill a machine can now perform. I want Bret Harte to prepare students to lead alongside these tools, grounded in judgment, character, and human connection. My commitment to this community runs deep. As past president of the Angels-Murphys Rotary Club and its Youth Services chairperson, I chaired the Bret Harte scholarship selection committee and started a career mentoring program connecting students with local professionals. I currently serve on the County Office of Education STEAM Council, where I helped create and continue to participate in the CCF-supported outstanding science student mentoring program.
I'm running for school board because Bret Harte has given so much to this community, and I want to help ensure it's ready for whatever comes next, including the AI-driven future our students will inherit. I'd be honored to earn your vote.
